Solo

I’ve sung as a baritone since 2008. I prefer to sing art song and sacred music, but throw in aria’s every once in a while as needed. It’s vulnerable but also exciting to share a message and make music with others. I’m currently studying at Yale’s Institute of Sacred Music, focusing on Early Music, Recital, Oratorio, and Ensemble.

Ensemble

I really love ensemble singing. Creating chords and making music together is the best feeling. I love the collaboration, supporting one another, bringing out strengths, and knowing when to get out of the way. Ensembles work to make temporal art, and adding an audience creates a wonderful experience. I’ve been lucky that ensemble singing allowed me to sing around the US and Europe. I have sung with professional ensembles in Houston, including Houston Chamber Choir, Cantare Houston, and the Houston Grand Opera. I have also sung in various church choirs in the Houston area, and am thankful to be with the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral at the moment.

Teaching and Conducting

I’ve had the opportunity of teaching high school choir in the Houston area for seven years. I was a head director for a small high school for 4 years, growing from 2 choral ensembles to 7 and receiving “Best in Class” and UIL “Sweepstake” awards. I was recently associate director for another HS program where it also grew in size even through these past 2 pandemic years. I have also cliniced different levels of choirs from elementary up to high school for festivals, UIL, and All-State sectionals. I hope I can keep doing musical work with young musicians while working on design. My current user experience studies have really made me refocus on how we as teachers and conductors need to keep the singer’s experience as our top priority. I believe keeping track of defining their needs and providing them tools for success will lead to the best experience for all.
